photos

These are my favorite pictures I took this weekend. The mannequin just really caught my eye and I couldn't stop looking at it all night. The guy in the goggles is performer Johan Ess, part of the Feathers music conference in Gainesville at the Laboratory. Check him out at myspace.com/johaness and give him a listen! The others in the pictures are Randy Gracia and A Scissors, both which are very good musicians and I highly recommend them to you as well. Especially A Scissors, sounding slightly like m83, but with an electro kick in the pants. He swears too that that is me on the back of the Saturday's = Youth cover but it's not! It's just my doppelganger. Let's hope I never meet her.

The genres unknown to mankind

New compilation featuring a song from my project Strangelette, as well as other such artists as Bubblegum Octopus, Giggle the Ozone, Kamakaze Kitten, and Dental Work. Definitely worth a listen. Feel free to download it;

Feather's Music Conference

My friend Johan Ess is playing this show and I hope to really be there, but sadly I also work that night. I love Gainesville. There is always something abnormal and delightfully weird going on. The laboratory is a wonderful little venue as well. I like the fact you get to drink beer out of beakers, and there are retro video games to be played. The bathroom is also in fact not a bathroom, but a portal to another dimension; just so you know. The last show I could go to there with Bleepsouth 2 with BgO, Lissajou, Yatagarasu, C-C, etc. Not to mention it was SO MUCH FUN! If you can, go. Maybe I will see you there. :)

eels

The Mighty Boosh is a fairly funny British comedy that consists of an hour long adventure through "time and space". I just happen to particularly like this skit. I need a musically inclined individual on the same wavelength as me to collaborate on music with. I wish my 'twin sister' Trista lived near me, but alas she is all the way in Idaho. D: Her project, Tjam Triforce, was amazing while it existed on the internet. But, I ramble. These two make a good team, and I like their style of comedy. While they play most of the characters on the show themselves, the Hitcher is one of my favorite's. Who can resist an evil cockney wearing a top hat and trench coat? I know I can't. I personally like the lighting effects, and of course the costuming and the makeup really catch my eye. I would be interested in doing that kind of thing freelance, or maybe even as a career if I were given the chance. However, the song itself is just something I like; it reminds me of other things I enjoy listening to on a more regular basis.

Tron

I just saw this at the Theatre in 3D and about had a fit in my seat, whatever that means.

But Alice in Wonderland was not bad at all! Everyone wants to bad mouth Tim Burton about the way he directs things, but he just has his particular style. I, for one, like it. I recommend it to everyone, especially in 3D.

Childhood's End

I just finished reading Childhood's End by the recommendations of a friend. It was a fascinating novel written by Arthur C Clarke which embarks on the strange and unknown; presenting itself to us from outer space. Aliens descend in giant space ships and make it their priority to organize the affairs of man. No one can much complain though, we are doing better now than we would have been without them. Overlord's with horns and leathery wings, they might be associated with the modern day devil from the Bible. What is their real mission, why are they here? Why do they care what happens to man? I am not sure how I would feel to know that my destiny was in the hands of some extraterrestrial being and not up to my free will anymore. They might only want the best, but what would become of humanity if our liberties were taken away? What might evolve, and what technologies may or may not show themselves to us should our very curiosity be stamped out forever. If you enjoy science fiction I would say for you to read this. It is a rather gloomy tale, but still very much enjoyable.

Medievil

This used to be my favorite game, and it was one of the first games I ever played when I received my PSX for Christmas one year. I love it to death, and I wish I had not given my copy away. I plan to get another one though; that and Medievil 2 which I played halfway through on rental.

I want to read this

I Luv Halloween

" Halloween has always been and always will be about one thing...getting the best CANDY. And, some fiendish friends excel at tricks if they don't get the right treats. When these gremlins receive a frickin' apple at their first house of the night, they plan deadly revenge on the offending fruit-favoring old-timer. Join the misadventures of a group of particularly disturbing trick-or-treaters as they go about their macabre business on Halloween night. "

Apparently there were video shorts made too, but I am not sure how good they are. I think that I would prefer to read the "manga" instead; more than 75% of the time they screw up the tv adaptations. That is why I did not like Hellsing, but Hellsing Ultimate is pure genius since it was taken directly from the manga while the first attempt at the anime was not. Though it was written and drawn by Americans, for some reason it is being published by Tokyopop.

AO

I hope he does not get mad at me for posting these, but I really love my friend Scott's artwork. Alien imagery drawn in enticing colors; sometimes the real picture can't be seen unless you are standing under a black light. Twists and turns, and disorganized lines; all come together to create beautifully intriguing and intricate patternisms, blended with the dark and mysterious unknown of an artists mind. What does someone have to be thinking to come up with this kind of stuff? I'm not sure, but I hope that he does not stop anytime soon.
